Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda and transfer to Volcanoes national park
Welcome to Rwanda, the country of a thousand hills and having the cleanness city in the whole of Africa. The driver-guide will transfer you to the volcanoes national park a journey taking 3 hour’s drive passing through the twin lakes of Burare and Ruhondo with beautiful scenery. If time allows, you will take a canoe ride around these lakes.
Volcanoes national park is a home of mountain gorillas and is part of Virunga conservation area, covering an area of 160 square kilometres. It encompasses five of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains, namely Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo. Other mammals that are rarely spotted are buffalo, elephant, bush pig, giant forest hog and several antelope species. You will check in the safari lodge for your dinner.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and visit Ibyiwachu cultural village
Head for a short briefing at the park headquarters, where you will receive instruction to follow for smooth trekking. Enjoy the trek which can last 2-3 hour depending on where you locate them but only an hour will be granted to you after setting them your eyes. You will encounter other primates like olive baboons, Vervet monkeys, and black and white colobus monkeys among others.
In the afternoon after a hot lunch, you will visit the Ibyiwachu cultural village where you will learn more about the culture of Rwandese. You will return to the lodge for evening leisure.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali and fly to Nairobi-Kenya
Transfer back to Kigali after a delicious breakfast and depending on your scheduled flight, you will have a short Kigali city excursion where you will visit the national museum, Rwanda genocide memorial centre among others.
Then you will be dropped at Kigali international airport for a flight to Nairobi, Kenya. The driver-guide will meet you and a transfer to the booked hotel. You have an option of nightlife.
Day 4: Travel to Maasai Mara national reserve
Travel to Maasai Mara national reserve after a chilly spiced tea or coffee. It’s a home of a variety of wildlife for example over 450 bird species, over 60 mammal species including primates, different savannah tree species among others.
On arrival, you will head for an evening game drive where you will be able to spot a number of wildlife such as the lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffaloes and leopards.
Day 5: Full day in Mara plains
Encounter a number of animals and other wildlife on this full-day game drive in Mara plains. This reserve is rich in wildlife and this is a chance for you to enjoy it to the fullest. Among other animals that can be spotted include lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo and leopard.
Then in the evening, you visit the Maasai people where you will be entertained with their cultural dances and also learn more about their culture. Return to lodge late evening for your dinner.
Day 6: Transfer to Nakuru NP
Transfer to Lake Nakuru national park has over 450 bird species, 56 mammal species with an area of 45 sq.km and is a home of 4 of the big five and famously known for its flamingos which are attracted by abundant algae. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges.
Mammals that can be spotted here are Cape buffaloes, African wild dogs, zebras, elands, waterbucks and lions, leopards among others, bird species greater spotted Eagle, Grey-crested Helmet-shrike and on the arrival, take a game drive after lunch.
Day 7: Transfer to Amboseli N/Park
Take breakfast and transfer to Amboseli national park in southern Kenya covering an area of 392 square kilometres. It’s known for its large elephant herds and views of immense Mount Kilimanjaro, across the border in Tanzania.
A number of animals are spotted here such as buffaloes, impalas, lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, blue wildebeest, and Maasai giraffes among others. This makes it the second famous national park in Kenya due to its diverse wildlife. You will take a game drive in the evening after lunch.
Day 8: Amboseli N/park to Arusha
Transfer to Arusha crossing Namanga border after your delicious heavy breakfast which will take 3-4 hours’ drive. The game drive en route will be rewarding as you try to spot the missed attractions.
Welcome to Tanzania, you will check in the accommodation facility and an option will be visiting some attractions in the town or relaxing at the swimming pool.
Day 9: Arusha to Tarangire N/Park
Drive to Tarangire national park situated in Tanzania’s Manyara Region which takes 2-3 hour’s drive. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park. The Tarangire River is the primary source of freshwater for wild animals in the Tarangire Ecosystem during the annual dry season.
It is famous for its birds and a wonderful spot for birding and also having large game mainly in the dry season. It is home of a variety of wildlife such as waterbuck, giraffe, impala, eland, Grant’s gazelle, Vervet monkey, banded mongoose and olive baboon, lion, leopard, cheetah, caracal, honey badger and African wild dog and much more. Take a game drive in the evening which will be ad adventurous activity.
Day 10: Tarangire N/P to Serengeti N/Park
A Journey taking 4hours drive from Tarangire to Serengeti national park, transfer after breakfast and enjoy the road trip adventure. Serengeti national park is also famous for its annual migration of wildebeest that migrates in search for fresh pastures and waters. Many cross the marshy western corridor’s crocodile-infested Grumeti River.
It has more than 500 bird species and abundance of animals, from the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and black rhino). On the arrival, you will check in the safari lodge and then head for a game drive in the evening.
Day 11: Full day game drive in Serengeti N/park
Encounter a number of game on this day as you take part in a full day game drive among other include giraffe, Grant’s gazelle, impala, kongoni, topi, lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and black rhino. This will be a rewarding moment as you finalise with the tour.
Day 12: Transfer back to Arusha and fly back home
