This one-week safari will take you to the best of Kenya’s wildlife and also explore the beaches in Mombasa located along the shores of Indian Ocean. The safari involves different activities such as game drives, beach soccer, swimming, village visits, sunbathing, and photography among others.
All these are rewarding experiences on this safari as you go close to the wildlife such as the big five animals, big cats and other different bird species. This tour can also be altered and changes can be made to fit your budget, interests and schedule.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfers to Ol – Pejeta conservancy
Take a 3 hours’ drive to Ol Pejeta from Nairobi town after a pick up by the tour driver guide at the airport or hotel. Ol Pejeta is a wildlife sanctuary in Laikipia county and a home of the big five animals (lion, elephants, buffalos, rhino and the leopard).
You are likely to spot other animals like the zebras, giraffes, olive baboons, hippos, jackals, spotted hyenas, impalas among others. On arrival, you will take an evening game drive in the conservancy to discover its beautiful features.
Day 2: Ol – Pejeta to Lake Nakuru N/park
You will embark on the journey heading to Lake Nakuru which is located in the Great Rift Valley and it covers an area of 45 sq.km and this makes a home of over 400 bird species including flamingos.
Also, over 56 different mammals including 4 of the big five that is minus the elephants. You will be served with lunch on the arrival and head for an afternoon game drive which will reward you with diverse wildlife. You will check in the lodge for your dinner after a game drive.
Day 3: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara national reserve
Take a game drive as you head to Maasai Mara national reserve. This natural reserve covers an area of 1,510 Sq. Kilometres, with diverse wildlife including wildebeest and zebras with annual migrations.
Other animals are hippos, elephants, crocodiles, jackals, and spotted hyenas among others and also bird species of over 450 which include; secretary bird, kori bustard, Usambiro barbet among others. More will be discovered as you take a game drive among others.
Day 4: Maasai Mara exploration on a full day
Pack your lunch in the bag with enough mineral water then head for a game drive in the savannah plains where you will spot many gems like hippos, elephants, crocodiles, jackals, spotted hyenas among others and also bird species of over 450 which include; secretary bird, kori bustard, Usambiro barbet among others.
Enjoy a picnic lunch as you spot more in the wilderness. Then in the evening, visit the nearby community of the Maasai people where you will be able to learn more about their culture.
Get an entertained from the traditional dances and music from the true African rhythm and also taste on their traditional cuisine.
Day 5: Transfer to Nairobi and then fly to Mombasa
On this beautiful day, enjoy the morning breakfast and transfer back to Nairobi the capital city of Kenya and then fly to Mombasa and check in the accommodation at the beach.
Relax at the resort beach on a swimming pool in front of a bar. Relaxing on the blue waters of the Indian Ocean is truly a rewarding experience.
Day 6: Mombasa beaches exploration
You will participate in different activities like sport fishing, swimming, beach soccer, sunbathing among others on this day or even enjoy bar snacks and drinks as you experience the beauty of one of Mombasa beaches. Relaxing at the beach is also a rewarding experience as it’s also a stage of refreshing one’s soul.
You will also take a visit along Mombasa streets where you will be able to learn history and art such as the architectural buildings or even visit the mamba village which is well known for its charge number of crocodile farm and even enjoy horseback riding in this village. These days end with a lot of entertainment like comedy, live band music among others.
Day 7: Transfer to Nairobi and fly back home
Transfer back to Nairobi and enjoy hot lunch and then a drop-off at Jomo Kenyatta international airport which will be the end of the 7 days wildlife and Mombasa beach safari in Kenya.
