10 Days Best of Kenya & Tanzania Safari

The safari takes you in two marvellous countries where you discover their beauties through visiting different conservation areas. This will make you take part in various memorable activities like game drives, community walks among others where you will get a chance to discover different animals such as the big five, big cats and several primates.

This tour can be carried out any day and any month but the experience will be the same. The tour will start in Nairobi – Kenya and end in Arusha, Tanzania.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Maasai Mara national reserve

On arrival, you will transfer to Maasai Mara national reserve in the Great Rift Valley with several stopovers like at viewpoints and in Narok town for your en-route lunch. This reserve is famous for its annual migration of wildebeests and zebras in large numbers but it’s a home of much wildlife such as over 450 bird species, over 60 mammal species including primates, different savannah tree species among others.

On arrival, you will head for an evening game drive where you will be able to spot much wildlife such as the lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, and leopards among others. Check in the accommodation facility late in the evening.

Day 2: Full day in Maasai Mara

With your packed lunch, start a game drive where you will explore the beautiful plains of the savannah area. The drive rewards you with an experience and photographic points and you will see lots of elephants, Masai giraffe, common zebra, impala, Thompson’s and furnish’s gazelles, Topi, Jackson Hartebeests, Black-backed jackal, spotted hyena and greater kudus.

A stopover will be made and take a picnic lunch while gazing on savannah animals. You can take a visit to the neighbouring communities of the Maasai people with a unique culture and take part in dancing their traditional dance. Disembark to the lodge for your dinner.

Day 3: Maasai Mara to L. Nakuru national park

Take morning breakfast and transfer to L. Nakuru national park after breakfast as you enjoy a drive out while spotting some animals. Lake Nakuru national park covers an area of 45sq.km with many wildlife such as over 450 bird species, 56 mammal species and is a home to 4 of the big five and famously known for its flamingos which are attracted by abundant algae.

Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives. On the arrival, you will take lunch and head for an evening game drive.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Amboseli national park

You will be served with breakfast after rising up and then find your way to Amboseli national park which can take over 6hours drive. This park is situated in Kajiado South Constituency in Kenya and at the border of Kenya and Tanzania covering an area of 392 square kilometres.

Many animals are spotted here such as buffalos, impalas, lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, blue wildebeest, and Maasai giraffes among others. Check in the booked safari lodge for your dinner and night stay.

Day 5: Full day Amboseli national park exploration

A full day game drive is worth experience as you tour around its plains full of wildlife such as buffalos, impalas, lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, blue wildebeest, and Maasai giraffes among others. Also, take a picnic lunch in the wild and discover the true African nature.

Day 6: Amboseli to Arusha (Tanzania)

Proceed with a morning game drive en-route after your breakfast in the plains of Amboseli national park. And then cross to Tanzania through the border of Namanga and find your way to Arusha town.

You are welcome to Tanzania where you will have another wildlife adventure for your remaining days for this safari. You will check in the accommodation facility for your dinner and night stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Tarangire national park from Arusha

Transfer to Tarangire after chilly breakfast a journey that takes over 2hours drive covering a distance of 250km. This park is situated in Tanzania’s Manyara Region. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park.

Tarangire River is the primary source of freshwaters for wild animals in the Tarangire Ecosystem during the annual dry season. It is a source of water for a large number of animals in the dry season as they get water from this river Tarangire. The common resident animals include waterbuck, giraffe, impala, eland, Grant’s gazelle, Vervet monkey, banded mongoose, and olive baboon.

Predators in Tarangire include lion, leopard, cheetah, caracal, honey badger, and African wild dog. And these will be discovered in the game drives after checking in the lodge for your accommodation.

Day 8: Tarangire national park to Serengeti NP

Continue with the game drive and find your way to Serengeti national park after breakfast a journey taking 4hours drive. Serengeti national park is also famous for its annual migration of wildebeest that migrates in search for fresh pastures and waters. Many cross the marshy western corridor’s crocodile-infested Grumeti River.

It has more than 500 bird species and abundance of animals, from the Big Five which are lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and black rhino (although these are rarely spotted) to giraffe, Grant’s gazelle, impala, kongoni, topi and eland among others. You will take an evening game drive as you proceed to the lodge.

Day 9: Serengeti national park to Ngorongoro conservation area

Take a morning game drive and transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area which can take a 2-3 hour’s drive. It covers an area of 8,292 km2 and famous for such crater is without question Ngorongoro, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and home to the highest density of big game in Africa.

It is also a home of over 500 bird species such as Superb Starling, Rufous Tailed Weaver and the African White-backed Vulture among others. And also mammals like leopard, elephant, buffalo and black rhino, giraffe, Grant’s gazelle, impalas among others. You will then head for a game drive on your arrival.

Day 10: Transfer to Arusha and fly back home

On this day, you will have a chilly breakfast after rising up and then head to Arusha with a short game drive through Ngorongoro craters. You will be dropped at the airport which will be the end of the safari. Please come back again!
